Gate Repair & Alignment

Gate alignment repair illustration showing a modestly sagging gate and restored alignment

A gate that scrapes the ground or must be lifted to close is showing an operating problem, not a complete diagnosis. Its movement depends on the gate itself, hinges, posts and receiving hardware working together. Keystone Handyman provides gate repair and alignment by looking at those relationships, so the proposed work addresses the condition found rather than automatically replacing the latch or adjusting one visible part.

The useful starting point is when the problem occurs. A gate may move freely for part of its swing, catch near the closing position, or sit unevenly even when it is still. Those observations help focus the onsite review. Suitable alignment work can be considered when the components support it; damaged posts, hinge connections or gate material may require a different or additional repair.

You can explain the behavior without identifying which component has failed. We review the actual opening, discuss what can be retained and what needs work, then explain the scope and price before approval. Hardware replacement, supporting repairs and finishing are separate choices when needed. The aim is a clear operating repair, with no promise that one adjustment resolves every cause of gate movement or closure trouble.

For gate repair & alignment, the agreed work can include review of the stated dragging, rubbing or closure problem; assessment of gate position and visible post, hinge and hardware relationships; suitable agreed adjustment or repair to address the identified condition; checks of normal swing and closure for the completed scope; separate identification of component replacement, hardware or finish work when required. We confirm the included tasks, materials and price with you before work begins.

Questions about gate repair & alignment

Will adjusting the latch fix a dragging gate?

Not necessarily. The gate’s position and supporting components may need attention before the latch can meet correctly. We review the relationship rather than assume a hardware-only fix.

Can alignment be done without replacing the gate?

It may be suitable if the gate and supporting parts remain serviceable. Damage or unsuitable components can require additional work or replacement choices.

Why does it catch only near the closed position?

That behavior helps identify what to examine, but it does not establish the cause by itself. The swing, clearance and receiving hardware need review together.

Does repair include changing the ground under it?

Not automatically. Ground or surrounding-layout changes are separate from the defined gate repair and need their own scope if considered.

Can I add a different lock at the same time?

You can discuss it. The desired hardware must suit the repaired gate and its function, and installation is included only where agreed.

Does alignment certify a gate for a pool or other special use?

No. This ordinary repair scope does not provide a special-use compliance assessment or certification. Identify that requirement separately before assuming it is covered.
